Overview
Ivany Mining Inc, has optioned, from Star Uranium, 227,723 acres (921.56 square kilometers), north of Zama Lake, Alta., that cover part of an anomalous train of sphalerite (zinc) and galena (lead) grains in soils disclosed in a recently released Geological Survey of Canada (GSC) open file No. 5121 and Alberta Geological Survey (AGS) SPE-77 on March 1, 2006.
The dispersal train consists of sphalerite and galena grains in till from the course sand fraction. In the case of sphalerite, the number of grains present in the heavy mineral sample concentrate is the highest ever detected in Canada in an exploration till sample — in excess of 1,000 grains in a 20-kilogram sample. Given the grain size, compaction of the till and till composition, it is likely that the source of the lead-zinc is within the property area.
This discovery indicates potential for the discovery of Mississippi Valley-type lead-zinc deposits similar to those 330 kilometres to the northeast at Pine Point mined by Cominco, now TeckCominco, between 1964 and 1998. The same carbonate strata found at Pine Point occurs at depth near Zama Lake
Cominco successfully mined the deposits, producing a total of 64 million tonnes averaging 3.1 per cent lead and 7 per cent zinc that would equate to over $18-billion in gross metal value at today’s prices.
Ivany Mining Inc, has acquired by staking from the Government of Alberta, an additional 27,648 acres, and 27,648 in a private transaction, increasing our total land holdings in Alberta to 283,019 acres or 1145.34 Square Kilometers 43-101 Compliance
In 2007 Ivany Mining Inc. hired Paul A. Hawkins & Associates Ltd. an independent geological services firm to further analyze and complete a National Instrument 43-101 compliance form on the property. The report covers the 230,400 Ivany-SUV Option and outlines a detailed exploration program that the company is anxious to begin this year.
